Write for us

We welcome pitches that help general readers see county geography with fresh eyes: a clear question, a specific subject and an explanation that does not assume specialist knowledge.

Ideas we consider

Propose work about landforms, settlement patterns, county boundaries, place names or connections between places. A strong pitch identifies the reader's question, explains why the subject suits Grand County Journal and describes the central point the piece will make. Keep the subject distinct from material already covered and avoid relying on statistics, first-hand testing or access to confidential information.

A useful pitch

Send a short outline through the Contact page. Include a working title, the main idea, the intended reader and any sources or images you expect the piece to need. Tell us if the proposal includes a personal perspective, a potential conflict of interest or material that needs special context. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication.

Editorial fit

We look for accurate, readable writing that separates what can be established from what is interpretation. Explain unfamiliar terms, use examples carefully and avoid professional or official advice. We may suggest changes to scope, structure or wording so a contribution fits the publication and serves its readers.
